Chess Club

The WHHS Chess Club is led by a professional coach and members compete against other Yeshiva high schools.

Chidon Hatanach

The Chidon Hatanach Club is comprised of students who immerse themselves in study of Tanach in preparation for annual regional and national competitions. The finals of the National Bible Contest take place in Jerusalem on Yom Ha’atzmaut.

College Bowl

College Bowl is an academic trivia bowl. Students participate in various competitions within the Yeshiva League. The WHHS team hosts one competition each year. Students are selected on the basis of try-outs held at the beginning of the school year.

Debate Team

Debate Team members are chosen based on their performance in tryouts. They are vigorously trained in the skills of organization, presentation and research. Students participate in debate competitions that are held throughout the year.

Mock Trial

One of the most popular and competitive clubs at Westchester Hebrew High School, Mock Trial participants compete against other private and public schools in Westchester County. The winning schools progress to state-wide competition with a championship round held in the state capital of Albany, New York.

Fed Challenge

Each year the Federal Reserve sponsors a national academic competition for high school students. Teams are judged on their ability to research, comprehend, analyze and forecast economic conditions and recommend changes to monetary policy based on their deliberations playing roles of Fed policy makers. Students prepare for this contest by participating in extra-curricular study groups and learning sessions with guest speakers. In addition to the prestige of participating in the competition, participation in the WHHS team imparts knowledge of economics, business and finance at an advanced level, potentially serving as a springboard to a rewarding career.

Model Congress

Students interested in American politics and government participate in Model Congress. Drafting of legislation, negotiation, public speaking and debate are key elements to success at the Yeshiva League Model Congress.

Model United Nations

A select group of students are chosen based on their written and oral presentations on current affairs to form a school team. The team goes on to compete in a three day national convention with other Yeshiva high schools on U.N. policy-making at the YU UN.

Torah Bowl

Torah Bowl is a highly competitive contest in which students are assigned portions of Torah and Navi texts along with Rashi’s commentaries. Each team consists of nine students, four of whom play at a time. There are round robin quizzes with updates of team standings followed by play offs and the final “world series” championship. Every year, teams complete one book of Torah and Navi with Rashi commentaries.
