Hilary Beirne is a veteran science teacher, currently teaching both at WHHS and Eastchester High School. Mr. Beirne grew up on the border of Roscommon and Leitrim Counties, in the Republic of Ireland. After earning a degree in agricultural sciences at the University of Dublin, he worked for various agricultural businesses in Ireland and Northern Ireland. He immigrated to America to become a teacher and earned an MS degree at the CUNY Graduate Center. In addition, he started working for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which he continues to do annually. Mr. Beirne has been honored by numerous Irish organizagtions, most recently receiving the NY City Transit Authority "Irish Man of the Year" Award. In his spare time Mr. Beirne enjoys gardening, Irish music, solving mechanical problems, and of course, science!
