The culmination of years of Judaic studies, Chessed service, and special programming is the Senior Trip to Poland and Israel. The trip, led by our Dean of Student Life, Dr. Nancy Block, leads students on a journey to explore our Jewish ancestral roots in Eastern Europe with visits to some of the destroyed centers of Jewish culture and scholarship to gain an understanding of and appreciation for what was lost in the Shoah. Students visit primary sites in Warsaw, Krakow, Lublin, and Galicia as well as Treblinka, Majdanek, Belzec, Auschwitz and Birkenau. The program ends with a short visit to Israel to connect the dots for students - Medinat Yisrael and the IDF do not just protect the people of Israel, rather the existence of the State of Israel allows us to live as Jews in the United States and around the world. The goal of this life-changing experience is to strengthen our students' Jewish identity, awareness and commitment to the Jewish people and Israel, particularly at this critical point in their lives when they will be going out into the world on their own.
