Welcome Prospective Students & Parents!

Thank you for your interest in Westchester Hebrew High School. It is my privilege to serve as the Director of Admissions for our school community, and I am excited to share just a few highlights of what makes our school so unique.

We are a boutique Modern Orthodox co-ed high school that is open and welcoming to students of all Jewish traditions. Our vibrant and innovative student body comes from across the Tri-State Area, including Westchester, Connecticut, Riverdale, Rockland, Queens, Manhattan, and northern New Jersey.

The essence of a Westchester education goes beyond pure academics. We ignite the passion within each student to strive for achievement in their areas of strength, while at the same time continually exposing them to new experiences and opportunities both in and out of the classroom.

We appreciate that each one of us has our strengths and weaknesses. We offer honors level and AP courses for accelerated students, and students recruited into our Scholars Program are awarded academic scholarships, attend workshops, and travel on special trips. We also provide academic support for students in our Learning Center with no added fee, and have a Mechina Program for those who need a stronger foundation in Judaic Studies and Hebrew.

Our boutique size allows us to adapt our course offerings to build upon students’ core interests, while continually challenging them to broaden their horizons. As part of our partnership with the Children’s Museum of the Arts in New York City, our students have taken courses in Media Art, Architecture, and Graphic Design in a new, state-of-the-art media center. Another popular example is “Envision Shakespeare,” a competition for Yeshiva High School students throughout the Tri-State Area, judged by theater professionals.

This tradition of participation in shaping the school extends to co-curricular opportunities as well, from day one until graduation. Freshmen have started in both boys and girls JV and Varsity sports teams. Incoming students have risen to positions of leadership in our Model UN, Mock Trial, College Bowl, and Math Teams.  At Westchester Hebrew High School, determination and drive mean that no one need wait years to make a meaningful contribution in academics, extracurricular activities or sports. Westchester students do not “ride the bench” the way they might be forced to do at a larger school.

We cultivate command of expressive writing and students from all academic levels avail themselves of the opportunity to improve their skills – whether in private sessions with their teachers or in the Learning Center. Westchester has a profound connection to Israel and our students attend and excel at the country's finest universities, colleges and seminaries. This connection produces life-long Jewish learners and globally minded citizens.

Our core value of Pirkei Avot is taught through example. We consider Chessed activities important enough to be a part of every day school life, rather than a solitary, out-of-school experience. When faced with anti-Semitism in our home communities, we have rallied in support of our people. Our students regularly fundraise for a myriad of causes, run in support of Chai Lifeline, send packages to both US and Israeli troops, build with Habitat for Humanity, and provide companionship at children’s hospitals and senior centers.

I invite you to visit and see Westchester in action. Whether our students are shooting hoops outside on our twenty-seven acre waterfront campus, studying together for a test at a lunch table, or challenging their teachers in a heated classroom debate, I know that the camaraderie of the Westchester family will be readily apparent.

Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions about the admissions’ process.
