Preiser, Ms. Karen

English

A lifelong resident of Scarsdale and a graduate of Scarsdale High School, Karen Preiser considers herself a perpetual student, having earned more than 50 graduate credits beyond her Masters as a Dodge Fellowship recipient studying at Wesleyan University and a National Endowment for the Humanities recipient studying in Oklahoma with teachers from across the United States. A public school English teacher for many years, Ms. Preiser now enjoys the low student-to-teacher ratio of her classes which enables her to know each student individually and listen to every opinion. She never teaches the same course twice, always changing the books students read and the assignments. “English is constantly evolving and the choices are endless so it is a challenge to find the most rewarding material for each class. I love working with teens as they are the hope for the future of the world with their optimism and energy creating new paradigms as they seek to discover solutions to the problems of today. They inspire me.”
