Hebrew Language
Miri Ben Avi joined the WHHS Hebrew Language Department in 2015. She is an experienced Hebrew teacher with over 25 years of experience in a variety of curricula with a specialty in language and literature. Ms. Ben Avi holds a BA with honors and a teaching certificate in Hebrew language from Bar Ilan University. In addition to her specialty in language, Ms. Ben Avi participated in educational workshops in mathematics at the Weizmann Institute Of Science. In Israel she taught high school Hebrew and mathematics and served as an assistant principal. Ms. Ben Avi is the Hebrew specialist at Beth El Synagogue Center in New Rochelle. In addition, she has been running Beth El's successful ulpan program for 18 years. For the ulpan, Ms. Ben-Avi has created an interactive curriculum which combines current events, literature, religious, and cultural elements to capture the essence of the Hebrew language. Ms. Ben-Avi is eager to share her knowledge of Hebrew and culture with our students and looks forward to conversing with them in Hebrew both in and out of the classroom.
